Evri UK – Driver Guide
Evri, formerly known as Hermes, is one of the UK's largest parcel delivery networks and one of the most accessible for new self-employed couriers. Pay is per parcel delivered (typically £0.50–1.00 each), giving an effective hourly rate of £9–14/hr depending on your route density.
Pay & Earnings
Evri pays per parcel: typically £0.50–1.00 depending on parcel size and route. Experienced couriers on dense urban rounds can achieve £14/hr+. Rural or low-density rounds will produce lower effective rates. No guaranteed minimum — earnings depend entirely on delivery speed and parcel volume.
Requirements
You need a vehicle (car, van, or even bicycle for some rounds), hire-and-reward insurance, a UK driving licence, and a smartphone to use the Evri app. There is no minimum commitment — you apply for rounds at your local depot and take on what suits you.
Pros & Cons
Pros: Very accessible entry (cars OK), available across most of the UK, can finish early and increase effective hourly rate, morning work frees afternoons. Cons: No guaranteed pay floor, failed deliveries reduce earnings, you sort your own parcels each morning, rural rounds can be unprofitable.
